Worked in various German cities from 1888 before resuming at the Stuttgart shop 1895. Appointed as a teacher at the Mittenwald Violin Making School in 1903, became Director, and retired in 1922. Schüler der Geigenmacherschule von Schünemann. Nach einer fünfjährigen
Studien- und Wanderzeit liess er sich 1895 in Stuttgart als Geigenmacher
nieder und wurde des Zithermachers A. F. Kochendörfer Nachfolger. Er macht vornehmlich Streichinstrumente nach Stradivari , Guarneri und Maggini und eine
Viola nach eigenem Modell, wobei er das Verhältniss des Halses zum Körper so einrichtet, dass ein voller Ton erzielt wird, ohne dass weite Griffe nöthig waren. Sein Lack ist rothgelb. Auf der Stuttgarter Kunstausstellung 1896 erhielt er eine silberne Medaille.
