ALBANI, Johann Michael Born 1677 Bolzano Italy, died 1730 Graz Austria. Son and pupil of Matthias Albani (I), below. Assistant, son-in-law, and successor of W. Sagmayr. Better known for cellos (some with carved heads) than for violins. Slender form and fine thickly textured red-brown varnish. Michael Albanus / me fecit Graecii / Ao. 1723
