Nach Grillet’s Mittheilung sind von ihm Violoncelli und Bässe bekannt geworden. Bedot in Genf besitzt die Zargen und den Wirbelkasten eines Instruments von ihm. Da er wahrscheinlich kein Bürger war, fehlt sein Name in den Freiburger Bürgerbüchern; auch sonst kommt sein Name in den Acten des Freiburger Archivs nicht vor. Auch der St. Lukasbrüderschaft gehörte ein Rifry nicht an, so dass leider nicht gelang, mehr über ihn zu erfahren, als was Grillet meldet.
