ROCKWELL, David Bailey Worked from 1878 Boston, Massachusetts, d. after 1923 New York USA. Violin and bow maker. Active in Boston 1878-1895, Providence 1901, Detroit 1908, Philadelphia 1915, Hartford, Connecticut 1920, and finally in New York 1923. Brother of Joseph H. Rockwell, below. Guarneri and personal models. Own orange-red oil varnish. Short corners. Neat workmanship. Cellos particularly well made.
