Er kam zuerst zu einem unbedeutenden Geigenmacher in die Lehre, dann zu Anton Lutz in Schönbach und ging hierauf nach Prag zu dem gelehrten Michael Weber, der ihm sein ganzes Vermögen hinterliess (1844). Seine Werkstatt befand sich 1847 in der Ferdinandstr. No. 147; später hatte er auch einen Laden in der Husová t?ida No. 230. Sein Nachfolger wurde J. B. Dvo?ák. Er hatte ein ein eigenes Modell, das er oft hochgewölbt ausführte.
