Josef Ferdinand Born 1846, died 1914 Nuremberg Germany. Son and pupil of Carl Boniface Sprenger, above. Also worked for Vauchel before taking up his position in his father’s shop in 1875. Good work on classical models. Also plucked instruments.
Willibald Leo Lütgendorff+
Schüler seines Vaters Carl Sprenger und von Vauchel. Nach dem Tode seines Vaters übernahm er dessen Geschäft (1875) und befasste sich seitdem mit dem Neubau aller Streichinstrumente (Geigen, Violen, Violoncellos, Contrabässe, Philomelen, Streichmelodions), sowie auch mit dem Bau von Concertzithern, Guitarren und Bögen. Er arbeitete nach Stradivari, Guarneri, Amati, Maggini etc., zieht im Allgemeinen jedoch grosses Patron und flache Wölbung vor. Den Lack (Öl und Spiritus), bereitet er sich nach seines Vaters und Vauchel’s Vorgang selbst; er ist ein feiner Holzkenner und arbeitet seine Instrumente sehr sorgfältig aus. Er betreibt auch die Saitenspinnerei für alle Instrumente.
