STECHER, Joseph Born 1828, died 1910 Salzburg Austria. Pupil of J. Stoeht. Worked in Vienna for Lemböck, subsequently established independently there before retiring to his birthplace. Many medals awarded. Violin in the Salzburg Museum dated 1884.

Schüler von Johann Stöhr. Nachdem er längere Zeit bei Lemböck in Wien gearbeitet hatte, machte er sich in seiner Vaterstadt selbstständig und erhielt bereits 1873 eine silberne Verdienstmedaille für eine Geige, deren schönes Modell, gelungene Ausführung und italienischer Ton besonders gelobt wurden. Er ist ein sehr fleissiger und kenntnissreicher Meister, als solcher auch als beeideter Schatzmeister angestellt und besitzt verschiedene Auszeichnungen.
