THIR (THIER), Anton (III) Born 1765, died 1837 Vienna Austria Son of Mathias Thir, below. Active in Vienna c.1790-1837. Broad Stradivari model with heavy edgework. Dark red or orange varnish of good quality. Also made guitars. Antonius Thier filius Mathias / fecit Viennae. Anno 1812 [Benedek]
