VEDRAL, Josef Born 1883 Paseky, Pisek Czech Republic, died 1965 The Hague Netherlands. Pupil of his brother-in-law B. Patocka to 1900. Worked with J. Cermak in Kutná Hore and A. Pilar in Berlin. Moved to the Netherlands, working for Karel van der Meer in Amsterdam until 1906, then for P. Kunze in The Hague. Took over the workshop of A. van Welsenesovi in the Hague 1908. Several skilled assistants including J. Stüber, J. Musil, L. Blitz, and L. Krumbholtz. Also joined by two sons, Nicolaas and Josef (II) who succeeded to the business after the premature death of Nicolaas in 1984. Highly regarded restorer and connoisseur.
