VÖLKER, Carl August Worked circa. 1873-1918 Hanover Germany. Clock maker and luthier. As an amateur made viols after G. Duiffoprugcar. Established professionally from 1914 at 2 Klagesmarkt. Copies of individual classical master instruments, notably the 1715 Stradivari ‘Joachim’ violin. Many experiments in varnish making resulted in a clear oil recipe with good appropriate colour. Gold medal awarded at Bremen Exhibition 1890.
Willibald Leo Lütgendorff+
Er ist gelernter Uhrmacher und hat sich seit 1873 auch auf das Geigenmachen verlegt. Er copirte u. A. eine Geige Duiffopruggar’s und hat sich viel mit der Theorie des Geigenbaus beschäftigt. In P. de Wit’s Zeitschrift veröffentlichte er mehrere Aufsätze über »das Geheimniss der Cremoneser Geigen«, »den altitalienischen Geigenlack« etc. Das Geigenmachen soll er bei Diehl erlernt haben.
