Eine schöne Viola di Gamba mit einem vergoldeten Frauenkopf am Wirbelkasten, die 1883 auf der von der holl. Gesellschaft »Pulchri Studio« veranstalteten Ausstellung zu sehen war, trug diesen Namen und Jahreszahl. Johannes W. war vermuthlich ein Sohn von Jeremias W., der schwed. Hofmusiker war und nach 1632 in Stettin gelebt haben soll, aber auch in Greifswald nachweisbar ist. Johannes W. ist wohl auch der Vater des 1678 geborenen nachmaligenTheol.-Professors Johann Ludwig Würfel, der auch Organist an der Nikolaikirche, Regimentsprediger Karl’s XII. und Pastor an St. Marien war und 1719 starb.
