A maker of inferior instruments in Milan in the 18th century. A label is known, but it has the name of the town partly effaced: ” Francesco Bresa, fece alia scala in Mil . . 1708.”

Vidal ergänzt den Namen der Stadt, die auf dem Originalzettel nicht ganz
leserlich, wohl richtig, wenn er Milano lesen will, wofür auch »alla scala« zu
sprechen scheint. Das zu dem Zettel gehörige Instrument ist übrigens verschwunden
und Werke von F. Bresa sonst nicht bekannt geworden. Vgl. auch
Brossa. De Piccolellis bezeichnet ihn als einen mittelmässigen Mailänder Geigenmacher.
