BUCHENBERG, Matteo Born 1568 Pfarre Rosshaupten, Southern Allgäu Germany, Worked circa. 1591-1628 Rome Italy. One of the most celebrated lute makers of that period. Son-in-law of Pietro Alberti and took over what had probably been his workshop in Via dei leutari 1599. German by birth, but lived in Rome about 1597-1620. Was one of the most celebrated Italian lute makers. A chitarone is dated Rome, 1614; in an arch-lute is the label: “Matheus Bucchenberg, Roma, 1619.”

und Italienisch sogar Matteo Boccaber. Er selbst schrieb sich Bucchenberg;
