John Dilworth+

BUCHSTETTER, Joseph Worked circa. 1775-1780 Stadtamhof, Regensberg Germany. Son and pupil of Gabriel David Buchstetter, although generally considered to lack his father’s refinement. Nevertheless a very successful maker with a fine disciplined model. Edges somewhat heavier than those of Gabriel, but fine extended purfling mitres reaching the very end of the corner in German style. Labels also numbered, sixth instrument made in 1775: Josephus Buchstetter, filius Gabrielis / Davidus, Pedeponti prope Ratis- / bonam Anno 1775 no 6.
