John Dilworth
BUCKLEY, Frederick James Born 1875 Guysborough, Nova Scotia, d.c.1960 St Louis, Missouri USA. Moved to Boston 1892. Pupil and assistant of Clark Powers. Established in St. Louis from 1904. Maker, repairer, and bow maker. Well-observed copies of Guarneri and Stradivari with golden orange varnish; about 70 produced. Bows with octagonal sticks and personal model for the head. All work branded: ‘F. J. Buckley’. Printed label: Frederick J. Buckley St. Louis. Mo. 1919.
