William Meredith Morris+
He was born at Plascow, Kirkcudbrightshire, and is still working as an amateur. He works on the Stradivari model and turns out nice instruments. I have seen only one, which was well made, and varnished with Whitelaw’s amber varnish. The tone is of average merit. Label, handwritten in Gothic letters : —

Er besass eine von seinem Grossvater gemachte Violine, die
ihn zuerst veranlasste, sich auch im Geigenbau zu versuchen.
Er studirte Otto’s Broschüre und hat aus Liebhaberei eine
Anzahl Geigen gemacht, die nicht schlecht sind.
