Worked for some time with his brother François Hippolyte in his father’s shop, but moved to Paris where he had a business at Place de la Croix-Rouge until 1857, when he returned to Neufchâteau. A specialist in varnish. Some later work made for him by his nephew Collenot. Branded: ‘Caussin Nicholas, fils’. One manuscript label reads: ‘made in the workshop of C. A. Miremont and varnished by Caussin in Neufchâtel in 1877’
