CERRONE, Domenico Born 1891, died 1954 Arpino Italy. Musician and violin maker, pupil of Luigi Embergher in Rome from c.1902. Worked briefly in Brussels. Returned to Italy during the First World War, succeeded to the business of L. Embergher in Rome, 1938. Chiefly known for guitars and mandolins, credited with at least 15 violins on Stradivari models with spirit varnish. Awarded medals in Florence, Rome, and Ancona.
