Willibald Leo Lütgendorff+
Schüler von Poiron (dem ersten Geigenmacher der Firma Laberte-Humbert
frères). Nachdem er in England, in der Schweiz, Tyrol, Italien, Belgien und
Österreich-Ungarn durch 10 Jahre gearbeitet hatte, eröffnete er 1899 in Paris
seine eigene Werkstatt. Er macht gute Geigen und ist der Erfinder der »Violaline«, einer Art Mandoline, die in der Form einer Viola d‘amore gebaut, die
Mandoline an Tonschönheit und Fülle übertrifft. Er macht die Violaline als
Sopran-, Alt-, Tenor-, Bass- und Contrabass-Instrument. Für seine Geigen etc.,
die er mit Öl- und Spirituslack überzieht, erhielt er 1900 in Paris eine Mention
honorable.
