CORSBY, George (I) Born 1790, died 1872 London UK. Originally a shoe maker from Northampton. Located at 8 Princes Street, London 1835-1841, then at 9 Princes Street 1841-1869. Musical instrument dealer. Typical London trade work. Amati or Stainer model with thin brown or golden yellow varnish probably made by outworkers. Very useful cellos of compact dimensions and good playing qualities. Bows also found with Corsby brand, made by William Tubbs. George Corsby / Maker / Princes Street. Leicester Square / London
