Willibald Leo Lütgendorff+
Er erhielt in seiner Jugend eine gelehrte Vorbildung, studirte mit grossem
Eifer die Geschichte und Theorie des italienischen Geigenbaus, bereiste durch
fünf Jahre Paris, London, Rom und Neapel und begründete dann seine Fabrik
in seiner Vaterstadt, die heute etwa 150 Arbeiter beschäftigt und zunächst
Guitarren und Mandolinen herstellte. Er führte dann eine Reihe kunstvoller
Reparaturen aus und begann seit 1900 mit der Fabrikation von Geigen, für die
er ein eigenes Modell »Fenga« aufgestellt hat. Er verwendet einen Lack, dem
er unverwüstliche Haltbarkeit und grosses Feuer zuschreibt. Seine Geigen sind
in der That sorgfältig aus gutem, altem Holz gebaut und haben einen ansprechenden
Ton. Er verlangt für eine 200 und 300 Frcs. und erhielt in Rom 1899 eine
goldene, in Paris 1900 eine silberne Medaille.
