Nephew of Sandor Ferenczy, above. Apprenticed to Zach in Vienna. Later employed by Schunda, making a good number of instruments for his label. Moved to Berlin 1888 and Rotterdam 1895. FERENCZY-TOMASOWSKY, Karoly Born 1863 Budapest Hungary, died 1902 New York USA. Nephew of Sandor Ferenczy, above. Apprenticed to Zach in Vienna. Later employed by Schunda, making a good number of instruments for his label. Moved to Berlin 1888 and Rotterdam 1895. In 1902 he emigrated to New York, but died the same year. Awarded first prize for bows in the Hague, 1900. Very refined work on Stradivari model, deep red oil varnish with fine craquelure. Excellent materials. Branded on back interior and upper block: ‘K. T. Ferenczy’ [Benedek]

Schüler von W. J. Schunda in Budapest. Er hatte ein hübsches Quintett auf
der Jubiläums-Ausstellung im Haag 1900 und erhielt schon auf der Millenniums-
Ausstellung in Budapest einen ersten Preis als Gehilfe. Um 1889 soll er in
Berlin gearbeitet haben.
