Sohn und Schüler von Johann Christian F. und dessen Nachfolger in der
Werkstatt. Er war sehr tüchtig, wofür auch der Umstand spricht, dass August
Riechers sein Schüler war. Sein Sohn, der auch Geigenmacher wurde, machte
ihm wenig Ehre, dagegen mehr sein Schwiegersohn Carl Gottlob Pfretzschner.
