FURBER, Matthew (II) Born 1772, died 1828 London UK. Son of Matthew Furber (I), above. Established in 1815 at 81 Pool Terrace, City Road, and from 1825 at 77 Turnmill Street Clerkenwell. Violin of the Cahusac type, cited in the Hill Archive with his inscription: ‘81 Poole Terrace 1815’. Made large number of instruments on various models for the London trade. Modest materials, but good workmanship, with characteristic purfling having long corner mitres and prominent white centre strand. Golden amber varnish. Son and pupil of the preceding. His violins are often advertised in catalogues of old instruments, but I do not remember having even seen any of them. He was buried in the same churchyard as his father.

Second son of Matthew Furber. sen. Pupil of his father. He died about 1830-1 and was buried at Clerkenwell Church.
