GARIMBERTI, Ferdinando Born 1894 Mammiano, Parma, died 1982 Milan Italy. Moved to Milan 1902. Pupil of R. Antoniazzi 1910. Subsequently worked for R. Antoniazzi in viale Ticinese. Also supplied work to Bisiach in this period, but called for military service 1914-1918. From 1920 he was given further help by G. Pedrazzini, whom he regarded as his true teacher. Developed a fine personal style incorporating the best features of the Antoniazzi school with classical forms. Excellent workmanship and fine varnish. Won important competitions in Rome from 1927 to 1939; also gold medals at Padua 1932, and Cremona 1937. Teacher at the Cremona International School 1963-1966. Many instruments exported to the USA in the white, to be varnished and sold by George Einsele. Awarded a decoration by the Italian Ministry of Education in 1936. Three instruments displayed in the Museo Stradivariano, Cremona. Branded inside and out. Printed label: Ferdinandus Garimberti Parmensis / fecit Mediolani Anno 19.. / No..
