GLASS, Johann Worked circa. 1900-1940 Leipzig Germany. Son pupil and successor of Franz Johann, above.
Willibald Leo Lütgendorff+
Schüler seines Vaters Joh. Traugott Gl. Von 1866—1870 arbeitete er bei
Ludwig Otto in Köln und kam dann als Leiter in die »Straton«-Geigenfabrik
in Gohlis. 1878 machte er sich in Gohlis selbstständig und zog später
nach Leipzig; 1897 erhielt er in Leipzig eine silberne Medaille und wurde 1901
zum Hofgeigenmacher des Herzogs von Anhalt ernannt. Er baut nach Stradivari
und verwendet einen Öllack eigener Zusammensetzung;
auch erfand er neue Geigenwirbel und einen
Bögen zum Selbstbespannen.
