In den Urkunden erscheint sein Name entstellt, auch als Härtl oder Häckel,
er selbst schrieb sich immer Hädl. Seine Geigen sind ziemlich hoch gewölbt,
erinnern an das Stainer-Modell; die Schnecke hat ein deutsches Aussehen und
ist dabei sehr schwungvoll, dasselbe gilt von den F-Löchern. Der Lack ist fett und von schöner gelber Farbe. Ausser Violinen und Violoncelli machte er auch gute Liebesgeigen.
