HAUTSTONE, Charles Born 1863, died 1929 Brussels Belgium. Pupil of J. B. Vuillaume. Established in rue du Marché au Charbon, Brussels 1883. Subsequently moved to rue des Eperonniers 1896, rue Lebeau 1924, and finally rue Jourdan. Assisted by his cousin Jean Baptiste Hautstone 1899-1914, who was responsible for most of the work bearing Charles’ label in this period. Viol maker specialising in copies of antique instruments.
