Schüler seines Vaters Johann Gottlob H. und dann des Dresdener Hofinstrumentenmachers Aug. Fritzsche. Er begründete 1835 sein heute noch unter
der Firma seines Sohnes Heinrich Th. H. jun. fortbestehendes Geschäft und
machte ausser Geigen auch vorzügliche Guitarren und Lauten, verlegte sich in
den letzten Jahren jedoch ausschliesslich auf das Geigenmachen.
