Seine Geigen zeigen das Hopfmodell bereits im Verfall, manche aber klingen nicht schlecht. Der Lack ist trüb-braun, die F-Löcher sind nicht sehr ansprechend in der Form, die Schnecke lang gestreckt. Er verwandte auch eine Brandmarke.
Ein David Hopf (Hopff) soll auch in Leitmeritz ansässig gewesen sein. Dieser
arbeitete nach Tecchler und hatte eine Brandmarke entweder nur »David« oder
»David Hopf«.
