Er stand als Lautenmacher in hohem Ansehen und wurde viel beschäftigt.
Seine Arbeit ist geschmackvoll und sorgfältig, aus edlen Holzern etc. hergestellt
und meist auch mit kunstvollen Verzierungen versehen. Eine Laute von ihm
aus dem Jahre 1647 befindet sich im städtischen Museum
Carolino-Augusteum in Salzburg. Auf seinen Zetteln erscheint sein Name manchmal auch »Khöpff« geschrieben. Seine Zettel sind mit Holztypen gedruckt.
