MILLANT, Jean-Jacques Born 1928, died 1998 Paris France. Bow maker. Son of Roger Millant, below. Apprenticed with Morizot Frères in Mirecourt, 1946-1948, returning to his father’s workshop in Paris. Established independently in 1951 at 3 rue de Constantinople, moving to rue du Mont-Dore and finally to 19 rue de Bucarest. Recognised as ‘one of the best craftsmen in France’ in 1970, and certainly one of the leading French archetiers of the 20th century. Developed an innovative, if ultimately unsuccessful, design for a two-part frog. Fine work derived from the Peccatte model. Round sticks. Branded: J-JACQUES MILLANT A PARIS [Millant/Raffin]
