Established his own business in Garmisch, but moved to the USA 1922 to work for Wurlitzer in New York. Established independently in Philadelphia 1926. NEBEL, Johannes (Hans) Born 1892, died 1979 Mittenwald Germany. Graduated from the Mittenwald school in 1906. Worked for Johann Stübiger in Vienna and Eugen Gärtner in Stuttgart. Established his own business in Garmisch, but moved to the USA 1922 to work for Wurlitzer in New York. Established independently in Philadelphia 1926. Finally returned to Mittenwald 1937, founding a large business with up to 42 workers. Prolific maker of all forms of the violin family using classical Italian models; also viols.
