John Dilworth
Mathias (II) Born 1762, died 1832. Son of Johann Neuner, above. Used the spelling ‘Neiner’ on early labels. Prolific maker. Exported his work throughout Europe and employed many craftsmen. The name continued in use long after his death. Well-crafted work on his own Stainer-derived model; quite high-arched, but with opaque orange or red-brown varnish and crackled texture. Characteristic extended tail to the eye of the volute. Mathias Neiner Geigenma- / cher in Mittenwald. 1788 Mathias Neuner Geigenma- / cher in Mittenwald, 1795 Mathias Neuner, Geigenma- / cher in Mittenwald, an der / Isar, 1803 Mathias Neüner, Geigenma- / cher in Mittenwald, 1812 / Nro. 138
