Pupil of Mougenot in Mirecourt. Worked in Brussels from 1882. Established independently in Ghent from 1900, workshop at 4 place du Commerce, later 6 rue Magelein, and finally at 4 Bennesteeg from 1908. Awarded medals at Antwerp, Paris, and Brussels. John Dilworth+
PIERRARD, Louis Worked circa. 1882-1908 Brussels & Ghent Belgium. Pupil of Mougenot in Mirecourt. Worked in Brussels from 1882. Established independently in Ghent from 1900, workshop at 4 place du Commerce, later 6 rue Magelein, and finally at 4 Bennesteeg from 1908. Awarded medals at Antwerp, Paris, and Brussels. Appointed luthier to the Ghent Conservatoire. Fine work on classical models with red-brown varnish. Author of Traité de Lutherie (Brussels, 1890) and Le Violin, son Histoire et son Origine (Ghent, 1902).
Cecie Stainer+
A maker of excellent violins, with red-brown varnish, and of good tone, in Brussels, at 23, rue Le beau. He was a pupil of Mougenot, but started his own business in 1883. Exhibited instruments in Brussels (1888), Paris (1889), and Antwerp, and was awarded bronze, silver, and gold medals. He published ” Traite de lutherie ” (Brussels, 1890).
Willibald Leo Lütgendorff+
Schüler von Mougenot. Er begründete 1882 seine eigene Werkstatt und
hat auf den Ausstellungen in Antwerpen 1894 und in Brüssel 1897 silberne
Medaillen erhalten. Er ist Geigenmacher des kgl. Conservatoriums in Gent
und veröffentlichte 1890 eine Broschüre: »Traité de Lutherie«, und 1902 eine
