AUBERT, Claude Worked circa. 1767-1800 Troyes France. Primarily a maker of plucked instruments. Employed A. Vuillaume and C. Giron, who became his successors. Interesting work. Full arch and deeply worked edge. Long Stradivarian soundholes. Head rather upright on pegbox with large open throat. Very neat work. Purfling interrupted at back button. Quite rich golden-yellow varnish. Branded at break in purfling on upper back: ‘Aubert à Troyes’. Manuscript label: Aubert à Troyes 1797
