Er soll bei einem Meister in Carlsfeld von 1849—1852 gelernt haben und
begründete später in Dresden sein Geschäft. Seine Bässe zeigen eine auffällig
abschüssige Form, die ein leichteres Greifen in den oberen Lagen ermöglichen soll. Seine Violoncelli sind schwer, haben einen zu kurzen Hals und meist einen näselnden Ton.
