Son of the violinist Carel Blitz, who founded a violin shop in Rotterdam in 1905. Pupil of J. van de Geest. Worked for Vedral at The Hague 1920-1923, then employed by Maucotel and Deschamps in Paris. BLITZ, Louis Born 1904 Rotterdam, died 1996 Nijmegen Netherlands. Son of the violinist Carel Blitz, who founded a violin shop in Rotterdam in 1905. Pupil of J. van de Geest. Worked for Vedral at The Hague 1920-1923, then employed by Maucotel and Deschamps in Paris. Joined the family business in 1924, both making and restoring instruments. Joint founder of the Netherlands Group of Violin and Bow Makers 1949, and active within the organisation until 1975. Diploma awarded at the Hague 1949. Succeeded in business by his son Otto Carel.
