BOIVIN, Claude Worked circa. 1724-1760 Paris France. Established at the sign ‘à la guitare royale’, 10 rue de la Poterie, later rue de Grenelle St Honoré and rue Tiquetonne. Master of the Violin-Makers’ Guild 1752. Viols, violins, cellos, and guitars in the Musée de la Musique, Paris, and Museum of Massachusetts. Servais played on a small cello of 1741. Flat model violin of 1735 cited by Vannes. Some examples with fuller Amati-like arch and thin red-brown varnish.
