John Dilworth

BORGHI, Pietro Born 1892 Cotignola, died 1957 Modena Italy. Trained as a wood-carver at the Industrial School, Forli. Self-taught violin maker, active from 1915. Much influenced by the instrument collection of Giuseppe Strocchi. Awarded first prize in the Forli Exposition 1921. Established in Modena from 1925, and from 1942 in Lugo. Worked in Milan with Leandro Bisiach. Influential teacher and highly respected maker. Preferred a model based on Andrea Guarneri, with dark red varnish. Borghi Pietro Lugo 19..
