Im Augsburger Steuerbuche wird er zuerst als Jacob Bossart ohne Angabe
des Berufs im Jahre 1625 erwähnt. Von ihm haben sich noch einige Geigen erhalten, die durch hohe Wölbung, hohe Zargen und kurze Ecken auffallen.
Er hatte sein eigenes Modell, arbeitete sorgfältig und
nahm gutes Holz und feurigen, durchsichtig-rothgelben
Lack. Die F-Löcher schnitt er parallel mit den Jahren.
