John Dilworth

BOTTURI, Benvenuto Born 1882 Gambera, nr. Brescia, died 1976 Brescia Italy. Studied with Diguini at Cremona, returned to Brescia in 1929, but retired from violin making in 1941. Prodigiously prolific in that period, producing 100 violins, several violas, and cellos, one quartet, and 200 bows, successfully exported throughout Europe and America. Fine work on Stradivari models with red-brown oil varnish. Several medals and awards. Viola and two violins exhibited at Cremona 1937. Ebony point on back button and beneath fingerboard.
