Das Wort »Barbaro« dürfte die Heimath dieses Meisters andeuten. Ein
Calascione (beliebtes neap. Volksinstrument) in der kgl. Sammlung alter Musikinstrumente in Berlin, No. 723 (von 1620), s. Abbildung S. 32. Bei Vidal wird
nur der Name mit der Jahreszahl 1660 erwähnt. Er scheint also nur die aus
diesem Jahre stammende Gamba von ihm in der Sammlung Correr gekannt zu
haben. Valdrighi nennt ihn Bronzo-Barbaro (3693).
