BRUNER (BRUNNER), Martin Born 1724, died 1801 Olomouc (Ollmütz) Czech Republic. High Stainer model with thin yellow or darkened to almost black spirit varnish. Sometimes features a carved animal head in place of the scroll, which is usually of good concentricity, but small and a little cramped around the eye. Ein guter Meister, der sorgfältig nach der Form baute. Hohe Stainer-
Wölbung und gelber Spirituslack sind für ihn charakteristisch. Der Ton seiner
Geigen ist recht ansprechend. Statt der Schnecke brachte er am Wirbelkasten
gerne einen schon geschnitzten Hundekopf an. Er brachte es trotzdem zu keinem Vermögen und starb in bitterster Armuth. Ein Contrabass von ihm befindet sich als Inventarstück auf dem Chor der Pfarre St. Moritz in Olmütz.
