John Dilworth

CAILHE, Jean Baptiste Born 1831 Charroux France. Pupil and son-in-law of Jacques Decante. Worked at Paris and Lyons 1855-1857 before returning to Charroux, where he worked under the sign ‘a la vielle bourbonnaise’. Like Decante, he principally made vielles (hurdy-gurdies), although a few violins exist with his name. Good workmanship but poor spirit varnish.
