John Dilworth

CALACE, Giuseppe Born 1899, died 1968 Naples Italy. Son and pupil of Raffaele Calace (I), below. Virtuoso mandolinist with the Calace sextet. From 1919 onward made violin family instruments very successfully alongside guitars and mandolins. The violins are on Stradivari or Gagliano models of varying qualities, from sprit-varnished trade instruments to better oil-varnished examples.
