    Anfangs baute er auch Lauten und Guitarren, aber bald verlegte er sich
    ganz auf den Bau von Harfen Er wohnte erst Faubourg St. Antoine und zog
    dann nach Faubourg St. Martin. Sein Sohn Pierre († 1839) und sein Enkel
    Étienne waren seine Nachfolger. Eine Pedalharfe von ihm im Empirestil besitzt
    das musikhistorische Museum in Stockholm.
