Brother of Amable Chevrier, above. Worked for Koliker in Paris. Later established at Beauvais where he produced many antique-style pochettes for the benefit of collectors. Made other ‘faux-ancien’ instruments, including a Brescian style double purfled violin now in the Brussels Musical Instruments M\u{2026} — John Dilworth

CHEVRIER, (CHEVRY) Claude Auguste (Augustine) Born 1828 Mirecourt, died 1913 Beauvais France. Brother of Amable Chevrier, above. Worked for Koliker in Paris. Later established at Beauvais where he produced many antique-style pochettes for the benefit of collectors. Made other ‘faux-ancien’ instruments, including a Brescian style double purfled violin now in the Brussels Musical Instruments Museum collection with the label ‘Andre Auguste Chevry / Bruxelles 1860’. Other work appears as copies of Lupot and others, but some are quite ordinary Mirecourt productions. Augustin Chevrier / luthier à Beauvais
