John Dilworth
CONWAY, George Samuel Born 1872 Newark, Ohio USA. Pupil of Urbin Lyon in New York and Leo Ruschenberg in Denver. Active from 1894. Established own workshop in Newark, Ohio from 1926. Instruments modelled on the 1715 Stradivari ‘Alard’ violin and some Guarneri copies. Red-brown oil varnish. Spirit formula on earlier instruments; later used oil. 250 instruments completed.
