DALL’OGLIO, Domenico Born 1701 Padua Italy, died 1765 Narva, Russia. Musician employed by the Royal Orchestra at St. Petersburg 1735-1763. Amateur violin maker; also made lutes. Left Padua before Bagatella was established as a luthier there, so any connection (as suggested by Henley) is unlikely.
Willibald Leo Lütgendorff+
Ursprünglich Mechaniker, ging er schon in jungen Jahren zur Musik über
und wendete sich nebenbei mit Erfolg dem Geigenbau zu. In seiner Arbeit zeigt
sich der paduanische Styl, der auch in Bagatella’s Geigen noch hervortritt, schon
deutlich ausgebildet. Es giebt recht gute Geigen und Lauten von ihm, die nur
in Bezug auf Holz und Lack nicht ganz entsprechen. Er stand auch als Musiker
in Ansehen und wurde als Director des kaiserl. Orchesters nach St. Petersburg
berufen. Als er seine Heimath wieder einmal besuchen wollte, starb er auf der
Reise.
